Gerrymander: Rig The Election!

Gerrymander - the puzzle game that teaches YOU how to rig an election!

Gerrymandering is a term used to describe the restructuring of electorates to give a certain political party an advantage.

Whilst having experimented with prototypes for the core puzzle design earlier on, it was in February 2017 that we (Alex Driml, Zander Hulme and myself) started work in earnest to bring Gerrymander to life.

I took on responsibility for designing all the visuals and artwork in this project, crafting a slick yet playful pixel art aesthetic. I especially focused on injecting some personality into the game through the voters, who have a wide variety of different costumes, animations and respond to winning or losing, as well as the campaign managers and spy characters who communicate with the player throughout the game.

Gerrymander was a finalist for the 2017 Australian Game Developer Awards.
